Chelsea Beat Tottenham in Controversial Encounter

May 1st, 2011 by Henry No comments »

Chelsea kept their faint title hopes alive yesterday with a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur, in a match that was laced with controversy.

The match was an important one for both teams, as Spurs are battling to secure a Champions League place for next season, whereas the Blues will hope they can catch up with league toppers Manchester United to win the Premier League title for two years running.

Spurs took the lead early on when midfielder Sandro scored a sensational curveball from 30 yards out. The Brazilian was set up by Rafael Van Der Vaart and surprised the Chelsea defence with his right footed shot.

The Spurs team looked confident after this, with their defence comfortably cutting out the attacks of new signing Fernando Torres, and holding stalwart Didier Drogba at bay. However, the Blues scored the first of two controversial goals just before half time, when Frank Lampard’s shot wriggled through the legs of accident-prone keeper Heurelho Gomes to trickle over the line. The shot was given as a goal, despite the whole of the ball not crossing the line, enraging the Tottenham team and supporters.

A stalemate was produced in the second half, with both teams looking for a win that looked certain not to come, until Kalou slotted one home in the 89th minute from an offside position. The goal was given however, and the Blues went two goals up from a second controversial shot.

However, Chelsea fans also had reason to complain earlier on in the game, when Spurs player Kaboul chopped down Florent Malouda in the penalty box and the referee ignored the shouts for a penalty kick.

The match will be another case in point for goal line technology. Spurs manager Harry Redknapp lamented the loss after the game, and called for goal line technology to be implemented to avoid further mistakes by officials like this, complaining that “we can put a man on the moon” but can’t implement simple technology such as this.

Newcastle United football club was established in Newcastle as the favorite English football club. It is a popular member of the English Premier League. The other names of Newcastle United are The Toon and The Magpies. These names are very popular. It was established in about 1892 and then was a combination of two established football clubs, which are Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End – the local club. Newcastle had played their game at St. James’ Park for starting their history. This club is really great and is a great creation in the English football. The largest football team in North East England is the Newcastle football club. There are many fans who just feel crazy to see Newcastle Live.

The Tyne-Wear Derby is a very exciting and popular match event, at which two teams meet each other in the league every year. This is the greatest competition for Newcastle and follows all odds on Sunderland. The greatest lovers of the Magpies have nicknamed them as the Toon Army.

Many cups and trophies are won by Newcastle United in the clubs history such as tournaments like the FA Cup, Kirin Cup, Anglo-Italian cup and the Texaco Cup.  Various League Championships were also won by Newcastle United in the early history as well. They won these all in the early 1900s. In 1927, they won the League Championship as their 4th and last one.

In 1950s, the great achievement of Newcastle United was that they won the FA Cup for three times. After this great achievement, they created a very strong history. For this achievement, they were established as a very reliable and strong team and their performance was really great across the succeeding decades. For their great football club, the Toon Army was really pleased and a huge number of their friends are still going in the recent time.

In 1974 as well as 1975, although they achieved continual victories in the Texaco Cup, Newcastle had downed their performance. Newcastle’s performance was down and stuck at the starting days of 1980s, so they were down and stuck in the Second Division of the Championship. In 1982, they made a new team with some new players and performed vary successfully until 1989. After this, they went down once more.

Newcastle United had truly made their comeback with a person, called the Toon idol. Kevin Keegan’s leadership helped them in between the years 1992 and 1994. After this great time, Newcastle United was boosted into the Premier League. This team reconstructed a great win of the Premier League during 1995-1996.

Newcastle United Club is England’s most important and popular football team, although its performance regularly upwards and downwards. You can see its real performance in Newcastle Live games online.

It can be said that football is really popular in the United Kingdom. The Toon Army and the Newcastle United’s fans will continually entertain and charm you with their game. Never mind who possesses Newcastle, it looks to follow that their loyal friends will watch!

Newcastle are unable to get Television coverage as others, because of their present condition in the Premier League, although they are a really entertaining team. Fortunately, there are many locations for watching Newcastle live online! And one of the best is a Newcastle Live online stream.

Key Players of the Club

Jonas Gutierrez – has worked hard for his team and was brilliant in the recent tournament, which serves Jose Enrique away without stopping. He definitely needs to score more goals in the last year, but also showed his quality in the finals. If you are watching his final match, he is really awesome. He played his game as a striker, which is a critical area of a football match and most of the time, he maintained his position correctly. Here the use of majority shows that sometime he plays very dangerously against the other team. He managed four goals in the recent tournament and has delighted his fans by showing his own Spiderman mask.

Kevin Nolan- made a great habit for making critical goals in this season and in fact he shows 17 out of 44. He got the award of a PFA Championship Player in this year. Therefore, he will probably be the captain of his team for the next year and had been a great leader in this season. His age is just 27 years and with above 270 performances, a question has been asked, which is about whether he can beat them in the Premier League. He needs to better to use the fitness center a little more for the succeeding season!

Joey Barton – Big Dave, our most loving player, was seriously injured this season, which lessened his effectivity rapidly. He didn’t play in his regular position and rather played in the field’s left side, which didn’t work for him. He actually not fully overcame his injury. Showing the glance of Joey Barton, who once played for the Manchester City after his good return from a foot injury, he scored goals for his team and also got a goal by free-kick, which was really good. If he remains out of trouble and on feet, then he’s preferable for the signing of the next season.

Alan Smith – This season was really bad for Alan Smith. He didn’t score a single goal after his 32 performances for Newcastle. And maybe, it will be unfortunate for him as he may be a back-up for the season coming.

Nicky Butt – He may be retiring from football since this summer or may appear as a coach somewhere. Though he was really a model for his team for the last six years, he didn’t do enough in this season after his 17 performances.

Danny Guthrie – I admire the choice of Wayne as he took Danny in the team. He really played well in his favorite position. He also scored four goals in his 38 performances. He has certainly helped his team to win. He just got the heart of the spectators. With his high and impressive performance, I hope that he must carry on his good performance and must do a really great job for his team.

With all these loving players and exciting performances, fans love to watch Newcastle Live games, especially online.

Manchester City Live

Manchester City from 1892

The club was originally known as St Marks as they came into existence at the instigation of Anna Connell, whose father was the rector of St Marks in West Gorton.  Further names including, West Gorton, Gorton AFC and Ardwick AFC were adopted and abandoned before the name Manchester City was struck on, in 1893.

In 1899, the club joined the elite of the first division, decades before its re-branding as the Premier League almost 100 years later. City have won the FA Cup on four occasions with the 1956 final against Birmingham City standing out with keeper Bert Trautmann continuing to play on after breaking his neck.

In terms of football, the city of Manchester has long been divided by two colors – the red of Manchester United and the blue of arch rivals, Manchester City. For many years United have held the upper hand, but now the balance is starting to change. Manchester City is almost unrecognizable from the club of five years ago. With a huge financial investment from its new owners, the club has been able to increase its squad of players with high quality players including Carlos Tevez (ironically once a Man United player) and Mario Balotelli.

St. Mark Church founded the Manchester City Club, which is a renowned football club. It was started in 1880 and was situated in Maine Road. It was later moved to its new home, which is Manchester Stadium situated at East Manchester (Eastland). All the Manchester City live games have been a thriller to the fans, as the team has won many European cup titles with many others to be told.

The fabulous team joined the Premier League in 1992. It spent a record 13 years to make the fans jolly. It also has a record as being a part of the UEFA Champions League. And also it surprises with Fair Play Ranking’, which surprisingly showed the European region how a city with only a stadium can build a playing image like this!

The Manchester City FC was once named Ardwick AFC as it was moved to the Hyde Road. The renowned Club started their campaign in 1892, as a Second Division member. But when it came across a huge financial difficulty, it was renamed and started rebuilding.

The two persons that started the club were Kevin Keegan followed by Stuart Pearce. As he completed the 2006-07 season with a result of 14th place, he was then replaced by the idol coach Sven-goran Eriksson. He surprisingly stretched the team to the 9th place, therefore gained position in the UEFA Champions League with ‘Fair Play Ranking’ during the years 2007/08, having high appreciation. It was also their second time to get that ranking. But still this manager also couldn’t present the best Manchester City live games.

Because of the reason stated above, the manager was replaced again. And this time the new coach is Mark Hughes, who was surprisingly replaced twice in June 2008 as well as in September 2008. And after the crucial turnover, the hand of Abu Dhabi Group has made it the richest club all over the world. Then, they made the highest deals in the transfer history of the British Football and signed with Robinho.

Though the high profile team couldn’t qualify for the ‘Champions League qualification’ in 2009, they made their best record of finishing 5th with the help of the new manager Roberto Mancini in place of Mark Hughes.

They made the crowd cheered when it got a victory of a goal against Bolton to get the FA Cup. They again did it in 1934 and also got the league title randomly 3 times. In contrast, they were removed from the league despite making more scores, even than 1938.

The players of the team have proven themselves as fighters, as Bert Trautmann continued playing on regardless of breaking his neck. The team will always be remembered as entertaining the public fancily. The Whole world enjoys their premium performances.

Key Players

With a large squad of expensive and highly talented players at his disposal, Manchester City manager and former Sampdoria star Roberto Mancini, will find himself facing tough decisions when making his team selections. Watching Manchester City live this season promises to be a fascinating experience.

With the advent of new rules regarding the number of overseas players, there may well be several international players unable to get a game however.  The problems start at number one. With first choice keeper Joe Hart and Stuart Taylor, already England national players and a competent replacement, last season’s choice, Irishman Shay Given, could now find himself forced out of the frame.

Although back four players, Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards and Wayne Bridge are all probably first choice picks, it doesn’t harm their selection hopes that they are all from England. Regular starting appearances can also be expected from Kolo Toure and Jerome Boateng, once they have recovered from last summer’s World Cup campaign.

Mancini’s selection headache continues with the more central players Gareth Barry, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Adam and Michael Johnson, fighting for the right to join the World Cup finalists Nigel de Jong and David Silva in the starting line up.

Those lucky enough to see Manchester City live this season will be able to witness at firsthand the outcome of Mancini’s most challenging selection so far. The club is blessed with an abundance of star strikers. With only two starting places up for grabs, none of the six squad members, Craig Bellamy, Robinho, Jo Adebayor, Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor and Mario Balotelli will be amused to discover that they are anything other than first hand players.

Watch Manchester City Live Online

With only an internet connection and the Satellite TV for PC software, you can now watch Manchester City live on your pc or laptop. So, it will be a very interesting season, which you should never miss to watch live, at least with an online stream, if you cannot go to the stadium and watch Manchester City live!

Key Players

Phil Neville, a captain of the team, who played for Manchester United before, and plays a key defensive and midfield role, removes some of his defenders pressure off. The defensive mindset of Neville is complemented with the attacking instincts of Tim Cahill, in the midfield. The skill to be available everywhere is greatly included in this Australian midfielder and he is capable enough to score a lot of goals for his team.

Mikel Arteta, their Spanish midfielder, is the one of most inventive players in the Premier League and remains as one of the most important players in favor of the Toffees. There are the 2 players, who attract the viewers to watch Everton Live games.

History of Everton in Short

St. Domingo’s Church members formed the club in 1878, with the name St. Domingo Football Club. The name is changed by the Church members into Everton FC as the reputation of the club widens, since outside Church members expressed their interest to play on behalf of the club.

The club played an important function in the establishment of the Football League with 11 other clubs in 1888 and also played in the first league season. In 1891 Everton’s initial league title was claimed and the clubs’ initial few years within this football league were comparatively flourishing ones.

In 1906 the club won its first ever FA Cup and in 1915 its next league title. This league win for the second time was claimed after a time period of variable performances, as the final position of the Everton club fluctuated from 20th to 5th. But things started to change from 1927, after winning the league title third time.

Recent days

In 1992, The Everton Club played a great role in the formation of the English Premier League. But Everton was not able to discover the missing glory and dislocated into a down slope that visualized its drop in the following decade, right in the bottom of the point table with an exception when Everton finished 6th in 1996.

Defeating Manchester United In 1995 by 1-0 into a very competitive final, Everton FC won its 5th as well as last FA Cup with lots of people watching the Everton Live match. In 1997 Everton arrived really close to relegation, but was protected due to a supreme goal difference, after finishing in seventeenth place, where Bolton Wanderers had the same points.

During the period of Walter Smith (manager appointed from 1998) the club did not improve its place of 14th, 13th and 16th position. He was moved from his position during 2002, as he gave the club nothing but sufferings. And the task for turning the club and giving it relief was handed over to David Moyes during the same year.

Moyes really changed the whole scenario. Where Everton finished 15th, Moyes took the club to 7th position in his initial assignment. But gradually he failed to fulfill the task. In 2003-04, the club resulted as 17th, in 2004-2005 it was 4th and in 2005-2006, 11th. But in 2006-07 it got the 6th place in the European Qualification, gone better during 2007-08, as it was only knocked out in the Qualifying Rounds of the UEFA CUP.

Wayne Rooney was also taken by Moyes, who showed a great performance after getting into the club. But in Euro 2004, this great striker was offloaded as Manchester United bought him in the record money of twenty three million euro. Moyes did not sit idle though. He bought James Beattie for 6 million euro in 2005 and in 2006 he bought Andy Johnson for 8.6 million euro.

The Andy Johnson’s entry really inspired Everton as this striker scored 11 goals into the league just in his initial season and also played a very important function in the front. Mikel Arteta was also a good choice, as he did a great job for his team. And Everton filled the heart of its spectators as it showed a high performance and finished fifth in the same league, winning the chance to play for the UEFA Cup, the very same year.

The 2010/11 Season:

Everton really disappointed David Moyes, as they lost 2 games just in the last part of the last season. They actually played so bad that they got their way out so early in both domestic and European cups. And during the year 2010-11, they don’t have any European competition matches.

Additionally, Moyes also took serious steps. He changed the squad by taking in Jermaine Beckford, a good striker and former Leeds United player. Jan Mucha was taken in for free. In addition, Legia, Magaye Gueye with Joao Silva were added by spending only 1.5 million Euros. Lukas Jutkiewics joined Coventry City just for a sum of seven figures, while Dan Gosling went to Newcastle for free. This displeased Moyes greatly.

Iain Turner, John Ruddy, Antor Peterlin and Carlo Nash gave a very exciting performance and succeeded to get into the European contention again, also getting themselves at such a position that they are now challenging for the best four. And they are now prepared for the UEFA Cup too. They really encouraged the spectators very much.

Everton are looking like the real potential competitors, just as Chelsea and Manchester United were, two years ago. Furthermore, D. Moyes will certainly do more surprising things, so that all the fans and spectators will get satisfied by watching Everton Live. Don’t miss to see Everton Live games on all available online streams!

Bolton Live

April 30th, 2011 by Henry 1 comment »

Bolton Wanderers is a team, that is entertaining the spectators since the 19th century and which is based on Metropolitan Borough, situated in the areas of Lostock of Bolton. It is one of those English football teams that’s from Greater Manchester and still dominating in the English club football’s campaign. The Bolton live games get the crowd raised and always come with so much excitement to them.

Bolton Wanderers played a prolonged first round match with Everton in the FA Cup, 1887-88. Welsh international’s player Bob Roberts had scored the goal of the match, which was played on the 15th October of 1887, but that result was confirmed as invalid as they had played a disqualified player, named Robert Struthers. The result of their next two matches was drawn. Before that Everton won their second match (altogether, forth match) 2–1. And this time Everton were declared disqualified as they fielded two amateurs’ professional players and Bolton were awarded as the winner; however, they were defeated by Preston North End by 9-1 after the triumph. But Bolton Live games still made the fans crazy.

Bolton has remained a very succeeding team from its birth as the team won the FA Cup for three times in the early 1920s. Again it came up with its own passion in the 1958 FA Cup Finals, when it won the final game with the very special performance of Nat Loft scoring two goals. But in 1987 the team couldn’t do so much and passed the year in fourth division. But the glowing praise again leads them up to the performance table in 1995 although they were absent for 15 years.  In 2001, they stared their first step to their recent course in the high class division. In the season of 2005-2006, they played the UEFA cup for the first time and achieved a position in the top 32. They qualified for second time in 2007–08, because they got a good position in Premier League during 2006–07 and in the tournament they got a position 16 in the finals. In 1997 they moved to a Stadium named Reebok. And Burnden Park is their ex- home, where they were playing for at least 102 years.

Bolton is the team, which has spent maximum amount of seasons within the highest class of performance without getting the title. The maximum position they have attained during their active process, is the third position in the First Division Football League during three seasons. And this is why Bolton Live games give the fans so much pleasure.

In 1874 a person named Thomas Ogden founded the club in Christ Church. He was a school teacher at Christ Church. And the team’s name was taken from the church’s name, but was changed for an argument with the priest. In 1877 the club changed the old name and turned into Bolton Wanderers. The new name was selected as the club had faced many problems in finding a constant field for them; they used three grounds in the opening four years for their survival.

Bolton was founded in 1874 by a Christ Church but the club name was changed to Bolton Wanderers after three years. And they become a member of a football league that was introduced in 1888. In 1894 Bolton Wanderers finished the FA Cup with the crown of runners-up. In 1923 final, they had made a third time lucky victory against West Ham United. Again more FA Cup achievements arrived in the time of 1926 when Bolton had beaten the Manchester City and also they had gained victory over Portsmouth in 1929.

In 1953, there was once more an appearance in the final of the FA Cup for them, but unfortunately they lost the game with BlackPool by 4-3. Five years afterward, Bolton compensated the disappointment by getting a glorious victory over Manchester United in the FA Cup finals.

Jerseys of Bolton

The home jersey of Bolton is a white top with navy as well as red trim. The short of the jersey is navy blue, worn with white socks. The away jersey has a similarity with the home jersey design. But the color is blueprint with thermal orange piping and white trim. Their third jersey is the away kit of the last season. This kit has a navy blue top and red trim with navy blue shorts and red trim, which are worn with navy blue socks. The jersey of Bolton in 1884 was white top with red spots. But the traditional colors are white top and navy blue shorts. In 2003, navy blue shorts were being dispensed, but in 2008 they were returned. And when you watch Bolton Live in these kits, you really love them.

The latest History of Bolton

In 2001, Bolton Wanderers were able to establish themselves as an appreciated team in the Premier League, because they rejoined the top trip. Bolton made their first Premier League in 1995, but unfortunately was relegated with the end of the season, because they finished the season with the bottom position.

They returned to professional football, after a year by achieving victory in the Division title, but they had been gone downward again because of a goal difference. In 2001, a person named Sam Allardyce guided the Bolton team and supported the club to change their team strength and spirit.

In 2005, for the first time in their club history, Bolton became eligible to take part in the UEFA Cup. They were qualified, because they finished the premier league with a sixth position. In the next two seasons they finished at the eighth and ninth positions. In the 2006/2007 season they qualified for the UEFA Cup once more.

But at the final matches of the season, Allardyce had left the club and established a contract with Newcastle United. His assistant, named Sammy Lee replaced his imperative position for the team. Sammy Lee had an unfortunate start during the season 2007/08 and Gary Megson took his place. Megron slowly made his team a good one and cleared his path in the team, as they were conquering their first title with this coach in 2008/09.

In the 29-years spell of Bolton, they were in the top in 1935 and unfortunately they fell down in the lowest position of the league in 1987. They finally regained their top position in 1995. And they had just made a heroic entry to the final of the League Cup, but unfortunately they lost a match from Liverpool.

In 2004, they suffered again by losing against Middleborough, again in the final of the League Cup. But with all their triumph and failures, people still love to watch Bolton Live games.

Wenger’s Interview Fury

April 22nd, 2011 by Henry 4 comments »

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hit out at Spanish sports magazine Don Balon, after they allegedly misrepresented the Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas in a recent interview.

In the interview, the talismanic midfielder appeared to undermine the manager, claiming that he would have been sacked by now if he was the manager at a similar sized Spanish club.

The manager’s anger mainly stems from the fact that the magazine had allegedly promised to provide the club with a copy of the interview in question before they went ahead with printing. Wenger claims this was not done as promised, meaning that he had no chance to review or revise the article before it was published.

However, Don Balon claims that the article is perfectly faithful to Cesc Fabregas‘ comments in the interview, and have even posted the relevant audio files on their website to prove it.

The captain’s offending comments were, “It’s clear that if you come to Spain and say to  EmeryGuardiola or Mourinho (managers at Valencia, Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively) that they’ll win nothing in the next three years, it’s obvious they wouldn’t continue”

The Spanish magazine hit back at claims that they had ‘twisted’ the player’s words by saying, “We made a pact with the club that, if it were necessary, we would let them see the interview and make changes if they desired.”

“When they asked for it, it was already in print but we sent it to them regardless. Revised or not, Don Balon would not have changed a single word of the article because it was completely faithful and respectful to the words of Cesc Fabregas.”

The remarks questioning the manager’s position will have touched a nerve with Wenger, as the season draws to a close and Arsenal battle to win their first trophy for 6 years, and their first trophy since moving into the Emirates Stadium. The usually untouchable manager has had his abilities questioned more and more recently, with the fans and the press asking whether or not he still has the mentality to push Arsenal forward.

Parker Scoops Writers Prize

April 22nd, 2011 by Henry 2 comments »

West Ham man Scott Parker has picked up the Football Writers Association Footballer of the Year award, beating off strong competition from the likes of Tottenham player Gareth Bale, who earlier this month won the PFA Player of the Year prize. Also up for the accolade were some huge names in Premier League football, including Manchester United stalwart Nemanja Vidic and City talisman Carlos Tevez, as well as the Blackpool revelation Charlie Adam, who could be set for a summer move to a big team.

The award, which is voted for by a panel of journalists, will be presented to the midfielder in a ceremony at the Lancaster Hotel on the 12th May.

The award is well deserved by Parker, who has been a shining star in a team which has been involved in a struggle against relegation all season. The team sit just one position away from the bottom of the table with just five games remaining, and by all accounts Scott Parker has shone in what has been a series of poor performances for the team as a whole. West Ham boss Avram Grant will hope that the morale boost for the player and the team will help them in their final fixtures, from which they will need to pick up as many points as possible in order to avoid relegation to the Championship next season.

Parker’s good form has seen him earn a recall for the England international team in the Euro 2012 qualifying match against Wales.

The player is said to be happy with the award, and will certainly hope that his performances this season will be enough to keep the Hammers in the Premier League next season.

Congratulatory messages flowed forth for the midfielder, with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger among the commenters, saying, “It is a justifiable choice because he has had an outsanding season, until recently when he was stopped by injuries – he was very influential in the West Ham team.”

Berbatov Injury Concern

April 22nd, 2011 by Henry 3 comments »

Manchester United’s top scorer Dimitar Berbatov is a worry this week for Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson after suffering a groin injury.

The Bulgarian striker missed out on the club’s midweek clash against Newcastle due to a struggle with a virus, but after picking up a slight groin strain, the striker could miss out on United’s weekend Premier League encounter with Everton. Berbatov will also be a doubt for next weeks crucial Champions League away match against German team Schalke 04.

Berbatov has certainly featured less often in the Manchester United line up of late, with wonder boy Javier Hernandez being a favourite selection of Ferguson to play alongside superstar Wayne Rooney. However, an injury to the striker will be a concern for the manager, as his options up front would be limited for the upcoming fixtures.

However, on the positive side, the club will welcome back full back Rafael Da Silva this week, who has missed out on the last four games due to a hamstring injury. The Brazilian has been in good form recently, and has shown that he can slot comfortably into the Manchester United first team on a regular basis.

The club will also soon see a return for Scottish midfielder Darren Fletcher, who has been ill recently with a virus.

“Darren Fletcher is back training, he should be available again in 10 days”, the Red Devils gaffer said.

“He’s excelled in big games over the years. When he’s fit, he’ll come straight back into the team.

“Rafael is back in the squad. Berbatov has a slight groin strain, we’ll see how he is tomorrow. Otherwise, everyone is fine.”

The manager will need a full strength squad in the coming weeks with important Champions League matches coming up, and the race for the Premier League title intensifying, with just five league games remaining.

Kenny Dalglish Calls For Summer Spend

April 22nd, 2011 by Henry 1 comment »

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has called for further investment into the squad this summer. After offloading out-of-form Fernando Torres in the January transfer window for £50 million, the club went on to use the money to purchase world cup star Luis Suarez and England and Newcastle player Andy Carroll, in order to strengthen their front line.

The Reds also have some promising youth talent emerging, with Martin Kelly, Jay Spearing, John Flanagan and Jack Robinson all looking to feature heavily for the club in the near future.

However, caretaking boss Kenny Dalglish, who can expect to be offered a full time contract in the summer, says it is important to consider improving the squad by spending in the summer. The Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool FC’s new owners, have shown they are not afraid to bring in new talent, but now the test will be in the summer transfer window, when fans will hope to see the company invest heavily in the club’s future.

Liverpool have shown improvement of late, after a disastrous start to the season which at one point saw them sitting in the relegation zone. After the sacking of Roy Hodgson, Kenny Dalglish has improved the club’s fortune, raising morale and winning games, proving popular with the fans.

However, with the Premier League becoming tougher and tougher, particularly at the top, every team will need to make sure they have the best squad available to them at the start of next season, as the four sought after Champions League places could be seriously contended by as many as six or seven clubs.

“It’s important that there is room for development for players, but it’s also important that you don’t use it as an excuse not to spend money and not improve what you’ve already got”, said Kenny Dalglish on the development of the squad.

Chelsea v West Ham Live

April 21st, 2011 by Henry 2 comments »

At one stage, it looked like Chelsea could have finished outside the top 4 for the first time in years. Surely, that would have been unthinkable for club owner Roman Abramovich. Yet, it was a possibility for much of this season. The reason being that Chelsea have been very shaky this season. They have lost 7 games so far, and most of the losses coincided with the poor form of the club’s strikers Drogba and Anelka. Fernando Torres was brought in from Liverpool. This has somehow revitalized Chelsea’s season. However, it is not Torres who is bagging the goals. His presence, considered disruptive by many, has inspired Kalou, Drogba and a few other players to start scoring goals that have helped the club climb the table again. Even the other January signing, David Luiz, has been among the goals in vital games against the two Manchester clubs. Chelsea v West Ham Live coverage starts at 17:30 GMT. The game will see former Interim Manager, Avram Grant, return to the club he led to a Champions League Final a few years ago.

Two Arsenal draws in a row has allowed Chelsea to take over as Manchester United’s main rival in the title race. At the turn of the year, nobody would have thought Chelsea would find a Championship winning rhythm again. Yet, Chelsea have won all but one their last 6 premier league games. On this form, and no more Champions League commitment, Chelsea have re emerged as title contenders. Indeed, their run in looks easier than the other contenders. They now have the chance to close in on the current leaders, who face a tough task against a stubborn Everton side on Saturday. Chelsea v West Ham will be a game between two sides geographically close. This is where the similarities end. West Ham are fighting for their place in the top flight, and are currently 2 points away from safety. After coming out of the red zone, 3 consecutive defeats have sent Grant’s side back down. The latter is rarely welcome back at the Bridge. However, he will need all 3 points if he is to keep the Hammers in the premier league for another season. The stakes are high at both ends of the table, and this is why you should watch Chelsea v West Ham Live.
